2 PM
Tea Ceremony
The Art Complex Museum
These ceremonies have long been a popular tradition at the museum where visitors often comment on the simplicity of a ritual based on hospitality performed in a beautiful manner.  The presentation and the Japanese garden and tea hut in which it is situated were designed for easy viewing by those who come to watch.
The tea ceremony begins as guests arrive in the garden, leaving behind the outside world.  Although decorations in the tea hut are sparse, the utensils used for tea are often exquisitely elegant.  The tea garden with its water basin, stones and lantern has been carefully designed to provide an atmosphere of contemplation.
Seating is outside and appropriate dress in recommended.  In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the museum.  The program is open to the public, free of charge, and is supported primarily by the Carl A. Weyerhauser Family Charitable Trusts, by gifts from friends of the museum and, in part, by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

3d Annual Wampanoag Indian Conference
Plimoth Plantation
You won't find the history of our local indigenous people, the Wampanoag, in the history books.  In fact, much of what is published about the "People of the Dawn" is written from a European perspective.  In an effort to bring public awareness to the presence and continuation of the Wampanoag Nation in Eastern Massachusetts, Plimoth Plantation's Wampanoag Interpretation Program will host the thrid annual Wampanoag Indian Conference.  this year's conference focuses on the 18th century.  The public is encouraged to participate in the many talks and activities at the conference taking place at Plimoth Plantation.  The weekend's events are free with your admission to the museum.
